| Since its entry into the defense weapon business in 1983, Samsung Techwin has been engaged in the development of artillery weapon systems (such as the K55/K9 Self-Propelled Guns, the K10 Ammunition Re-supply Vehicle, and the K77 Fire Direction Vehicle), combat engineer vehicles, and amphibious assault vehicles, thus playing a pivotal role in the enhancement of the country¡¯s national defense capability. The K9 Self-Propelled Gun is also being exported to other countries. |
 |
Samsung Techwin successfully developed the K9 Self-Propelled Gun, which boasts the highest combat capability among artillery pieces in the same category, based on the experience and know-how acquired in the production of more than 1,000 K55s. The gun is now being supplied to both the Korean Army and Turkey in recognition of its excellence. The Company is making efforts to explore markets for it in the Middle East and other Asian countries
The K10 Ammunition Re-supply Vehicle, the world¡¯s first fully-automated re-supply carrier, has been produced in large numbers since 2006 and is supplied to the Korean Army for combat duties. With its ability to supply at least 12 rounds a minute, it has - together with the K9 Self-Propelled Gun - gone a long way to enhancing the combat capability of artillery units.
As a manufacturer enjoying worldwide fame for its ground combat weapons, Samsung Techwin is engaged in work to improve the performance of the K55 Self-Propelled Gun and to develop hi-tech combat equipment including wheeled armored personnel carriers and intelligent surveillance and guard robots.
The Company will continue to do its best to enhance the country¡¯s industrial competitiveness and raise the value of its technologies in the effort to maintain peace.
