Firing the standard M107 high-explosive (HE) projectile of a maximum range of 18 km can be achieved. Maximum range firing the HE Rocket Assisted Projectile (RAP) with uni-charge of five zones is 30 km. Firing the new locally developed K307 projectile with a modular-charge of six zones, a maximum range of over 40 km can be achieved with a chamber pressure of 52,000 psi and a muzzle velocity of 928 m/s.

Higher Rate of Fire
A burst rate of fire of 3(three) rounds can be achieved in 15 seconds, with a maximum rate of fire of from 6(six) to 8(eight) rounds a minute for three minutes. Sustained rate of fire is from 2(two) to 3(three) rounds a minute for one hour. A thermal warning device is fitted as standard and this feeds the temperature of the barrel to the Automatic Fire-Control System (AFCS).

MRSI (Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact)
Each K9 Thunder can carry out MRSI mission, bolstering firing capability three times as faster as those of other howitzers.
